Wych Elm Fly Fishery was created in 1989, since then it has been extended to form an attractive 2 acre fishing lake, with twelve fishing platforms but with a limit of only eleven fishermen. The fishery is fed from natural springs so it remains clear all year round, ideal for stalking fish. Brown Trout, Brook Trout and tagged fish are stocked as sport fish. If you catch a tagged fish you earn yourself a free 1/2 day - 2 Fish Ticket. The Wych Elm Fishery is stocked daily with only the very highest quality fish from our regular scottish supplier. Based on the same grounds as Wych Elm Holidays in South Cumbria it offers a perfect short fishing break destination, with the Self catering accommodation less than 100 yards walk you can fish by day and relax in the evening. The fishery itself is close to the Historic city of Lancaster and the well known market town Kendal providing activities to suit all tastes.

We were staying in the Bungalow overlooking the fishery, with it's stunning sunsets. Walking in the Lake District during the days and spoiling myself, fishing during the evenings.

Ken & Jean Gill run a very intimate fishery that boasts a good head of fish. Any doubt on Ken's stocking policy, can be put to rest when you peek into the stock pool. Beautiful Blues and Good looking Rainbows, flash around, whetting your appetite for the scrap to come!

One of the evenings, whilst fishing on the Railway banking, a very large Koi Carp rose like a submarine to the surface, right in front of me. It must have been just short of double figures, but amazing to watch.

Most fish can be taken just sub-surface, though I was using small Flash Straggler Patterns. Don't fish ultra Light, you'll be smashed to pieces by the Blue's.

Try the deep water near the tall Firs, in the corner, for some furious action on small lures and buzzers.

Ken Does'nt stock tackle, but does have some flies. John Norris is at Penrith, which is too far for any tackle needs.

Just enjoy the fishing and arm wrenching pulls, especially if your not ready for them. Thrilling fishing that is both intimate and challenging. Fantastic.

Best Regards
