If you enjoy a good catch then Smeaton's Lakes is the place for you. With several finger ponds, carp and coarse lakes, and a good stretch of the River Trent, there is something for every coarse fisherman. All the pegs are easily accessible and some can be reached by car, enabling those with physical impairments to enjoy their fishing. With all year fishing on the lakes and day and night tickets available, Smeaton's Lakes is an angler's paradise.

Situated just outside the historic market town of Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, Smeaton's Lakes is the ideal place for your fishing and touring needs. Opened in 1996, this family run business has gone from strength to strength. Set in 90 acres, the site is open all year round, with the security and service that CCTV and a resident warden provide.

Located on the A616, just off the A1 at North Muskham, Smeaton's Lakes is approximately 1 mile away from Newark-on-Trent, with its Civil War connection, and close to Nottingham, Lincoln and Southwell.  In fact, there is a Civil War earthwork on the site. With Sherwood Forest and the 'Major Oak' being less than half an hour away, the whole area is steeped in history and legends. The International Antique Fairs are held at Swinderby, approximately 8 miles away and Newark Showground every couple of months.

Finger Ponds - 21 pegs
So called because of their shape, these are stocked with pike, such as 'Big Terry' and coarse fish in abundance, including numerous roach.

Sawmill Carp Lake - 15 pegs
Stocked with common, mirror and leather carp, the larger, stronger fish in this specialist carp lake will keep the most demanding fisherman busy for a while.

Burrows Coarse Lake - 20 pegs
Reed Pond Coarse Lake - 40 pegs
These coarse lakes contains a plethora of species such as bream, chub, small carp, perch, roach, rudd, tench and orf. A really mixed keep net full.

River Trent
There are 7 pegs along the river, which is noted for barbel, bream, chub and carp.
